After last year’s successful shows in both Victoria and Campbell River, Drag in Concept is back with a Valentine’s edition of the hit immersive drag show, Heartbreak Hotel.
Check into the Heartbreak Hotel 2: The Rebound, on Friday, February 16th at the Wicket Hall and prepare yourself for an evening of high drama, laughter, and the never-ending search for a lovesick cure.
The original leading ladies Aria Okay, Henrietta Dubét, Jackbox Jayne, and Ket Bush are back with a highly anticipated SHE-quel!
Follow these gal pals as they attempt a new approach to dealing with heartbreak…by finding a rebound and feasting their eyes on heartthrob Eddi Licious, as seen on CBC ‘Canada’s a Drag’ Season 2.
Tensions arise as they compete for the cure, especially with the unexpected arrival of two of Eddi’s exes, queens Lola Maneata and Ghost of Judith.
As described in a media release, Heartbreak Hotel 2 promises rip-roaring drag play, suspense, and gags aplenty.
“Heartbreak Hotel 2: The Rebound has been such a joy to produce and write, and is an opportunity to see Victoria drag at its best: collaborative, camp, hilarious and high-concept,” shared Henrietta Dubét.
To warm up the audience for such a titillating show, heart-stealing drag kings Sylvester Stalletto and Chain-Him Tatum will be performing at 7:45 p.m., ahead of the feature presentation.
In addition, Drag in Concept is introducing a new pop-up market at 6 p.m. featuring goods from 16 queer-owned local companies!
There will be anything from leatherwear, home decor, visual art, to beauty products that audiences can browse through—take the opportunity to treat yourself or a loved one while mingling with the cast before the kings go on.
“Adding a new pop-up market to the event is such an exciting way to meet more people in the queer arts community and platform how much talent surrounds us here,” said Ket Bush.
“In the absence of a trophy husband this Valentine’s Day, I know I’m going to be indulging in some ‘self-care’ at the market!”
And that’s not all! Wicket Hall will also be serving a custom menu of Jagermeister cocktails, mocktails, and shots all night, and have planned a whole post-show dance party with DJs from 10pm until late.
