48-year-old Metchosin man arrested after discharging firearm inside home

A 48-year-old Metchosin man was arrested last week after discharging a gun inside a home.

On Wednesday, February 21st, West Shore RCMP responded to a property in the 4600 block of Sooke Road following a report of a man unsafely discharging a firearm inside a residence.

West Shore RCMP, along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team, quickly secured the area by surrounding the residence.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect, a 48-year-old Metchosin man, was safely taken into custody without incident.

Following the arrest, members of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit executed a search warrant on the residence, where they located and seized firearms and ammunition.

The suspect was charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and uttering threats, and remains in custody.

His next court appearance is February 28th.
