BC Transit adjusts services to some routes to match spring-season demand in Victoria

Share

BC Transit has announced their springtime service changes in and around Victoria in an effort to improve service reliability as tourist season begins to ramp up—set to take effect on Monday, April 15th.

Included in their list of changes involves the following routes:

  • Route 1 South Oak Bay/Downtown
  • Route 2 James Bay/South Oak Bay
  • Route 3 James Bay/Royal Jubilee
  • Route 5 James Bay/Willows
  • Route 10 James Bay

Adjustments to the above will include some minor changes to trip times to improve service reliability, with Route 1 facing the most significant changes to their early morning service—now scheduled to start 20 minutes earlier.

Route 13 from Ten Mile Point to UVic will now travel on Arbutus and Finnerty rather than via Sinclair.

On Fridays and weekends, improvements will be made to Route 70—traveling from Swartz Bay to Downtown—to reflect the increase in tourist and ferry traffic.

Additionally, in recognition of the demand from both resident commuters and tourists, service improvements will apply to Route 75 (Saanichton/Royal Oak/Downtown) on weekdays and weekends.

Some minor adjustments are also being made to trip times and service levels on the following West Shore routes after receiving public feedback:

  • Route 52 Colwood Exch/Bear Mountain
  • Route 57 Thetis Heights/Langford Exchange
  • Route 58 Goldstream Meadows/Langford Exchange.

With the change of season, routes that serve post-secondary schools will undergo their yearly service level reductions as the majority of students finish their school year.
