Love him or hate him, he was one of the Vancouver Canucks most memorable players.
The Vancouver Canucks have arranged to sign their former player Kevin Bieksa to a one-game contract so he can retire as a Canuck.
On November 3rd prior to the game against the Anaheim Ducks, there will be a tribute ceremony at Rogers Arena. The evening will be extra special for Bieksa, considering Anaheim is the only other NHL team the player suited up for.
“I am both honoured and grateful to officially end my NHL career as a Vancouver Canuck,” said Bieksa in a statement.
“It was a privilege to start my career with this amazing organization, in this incredible city, with the best fans in the league. I am and always have been a Canuck at heart and it’s fitting I retire as one.”

Bieksa played 10 seasons as a full time Canuck and two seasons as a part-timer while he was on their affiliate team, the Manitoba Moose.
He ranks among the top 10 in many categories of play for a Canucks defencemen:
- Games played, seventh (597)
- Goals, tied for seventh (56)
- Assists, sixth (185)
- Points, sixth (241)
On top of his offensive capabilities, Bieksa was known for his physical play.
He still ranks second all-time among Canucks skaters in hits (967) and ninth in penalty minutes, fourth among defencemen (879).
Fans of Bieksa will be glad to know that a limited run of merchandise–including jerseys with his name and number–will be made available for this game.
