West Shore RCMP have arrested two people for drug trafficking within the Greater Victoria area.

According to a media release from West Shore RCMP, a months long investigation, which began in December, resulted in the two suspects being identified as drugs traffickers.

The suspects operated from two residences, one in Langford and another in Victoria.

On January 13th, the West Shore RCMP drugs and organized crime unit executed several search warrants at both homes and a vehicle driven by one of the suspects which uncovered evidence of drug trafficking.

During the raid, police said they seized approximately $9,000 cash, quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, crack-cocaine and thousands of unmarked pills (that are being tested to determine their exact content), and 24 ounces of powder that is suspected to be steroids.

Officers also seized an extendable baton, bear spray and three replica firearms including an MP5, and two hand guns.

“This investigation and the seizure of these drugs will impact the drug trade in the Greater Victoria area. We want to thank the many West Shore RCMP officers as well as the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team who assisted in ensuring the safe execution of these warrants,” said Cpl. Kevin Pollock, in charge of West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit.

Two male suspects identified as a 24 and 28-year-old of Langford were arrested for drug trafficking.

Both were released from custody and charges against them are expected following the completion of the investigation.
