Sooke RCMP executed two search warrants over the past two weeks that have resulted in the seizure of numerous automatic and replica firearms as well as large quantities of illicit drugs.
Police say 34-year-old Sooke man Ryan Storm has been arrested twice in connection with these warrants and is facing numerous charges for possession and trafficking.
January 14th search warrant execution
A Sooke RCMP investigation saw a search warrant executed at a residence in the 6600-block of Sooke Road on January 14th.
At the home, police say they found around two kilograms of drugs including suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl.
Officers say they also located and seized four unlawfully possessed automatic firearms and an array of replica firearms, prohibited devices and drug trafficking-related paraphernalia.
Storm was brought into custody during the search where he was held until he appeared before a judge. His resulting charges were two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
January 26th search warrant execution
Only 12 days after Storm’s release, Sooke RCMP in conjunction with West Shore RCMP conducted a search warrant execution on a residence in the 7100-block of West Coast Road on January 26th.
Inside, police say they found a vast number of prohibited devices including several high-capacity prohibited firearm magazines, conducted energy weapons (tasers), prohibited knives and a large cache of ammunition.
For the second time in one month, Storm was taken into custody in connection to the second seizure.
Storm has since been additionally charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, careless storage of a firearm and breach of release order.
“Mr. Strom remains in custody pending his next court appearance set for February 28, 2023,” said Acting Sooke RCMP Detachment Commander, Sergeant Kevin Shaw.
“These circumstances, particularly in close proximity to local elementary schools, are of the highest priority to the Sooke RCMP.”
