A Victoria man has been charged with first degree murder in the death of a 34-year-old Andrew Alexander McLean.
Brandon Tyler Woody, 30, is alleged to have shot and killed McLean in the lobby of the Howard Johnson Hotel in Nanaimo in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, Woody was arrested about an hour after the shooting by North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP.
He was also charged with possessing a firearm while prohibited.
Woody made his first court appearance today in Nanaimo, and will be held in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday, May 2.
