Robert Bateman Masterclass

World-renowned Canadian master artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman, will host a masterclass, exploring ideas and techniques that make for successful artwork. Open to artists of any medium, this is not a typical studio-style, painting class, but a multi-day workshop featuring spoken lectures and PowerPoint seminars. Mr. Bateman will share his life stories, inspirations and composition, whilst also demonstrating the art techniques behind his work.

Travel with Robert Bateman through his adventures in art and nature from the young age of 12 through to his experience as an 88-year-old still practising his craft.

    • When: Monday-Wednesday, May 6th – 8th: Three full days of instruction with Robert Bateman

Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival 2019

For six weeks in April and May, over nine thousand Victoria-area students of music, dance and dramatic arts are on stages throughout the city receiving adjudications from renowned experts in the arts.

Daily throughout the Festival, talented young people and adults perform in Brass, Classical Guitar, Choral, Composition, Dance (School and Studio), Ethnic Dance, Fiddle, Musical Theatre, Piano, School Bands, School Orchestras, Speech and Dramatic Arts, Strings, Voice and Woodwinds.

  • When: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. – see calendar. The event runs from  April 3 to May 10.

The Sült Mine Open Mic Comedy

Mondays are the loveliest day of the week, if you’re into pierogis and comedy! Head to Sült Pierogi Bar and enjoy some great cocktails and awesome food while you watch open mic comedy! They’ve got a very exciting feature act this week, the universally beloved kimchi-enthusiast: Ryan Bangma!

Canstruction Victoria 2019

The sixth annual Canstruction Victoria showcases colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a large art exhibition. The public can view the structures for the duration of the event during regular shopping centre hours and can vote on their favourite structure with a donation of $5 or 5 cans. This years theme is Under The Sea and we have 9 teams competing!

  • When: May 3rd to 13th – during shopping centre hours
  • Where: Hillside Shopping Centre, 1644 Hillside Avenue

Open Mic at The Mint with Pete and Mo

Showcase your talent, whether it’s music, comedy, dance, spoken word or poetry… you name it! Registration begins at 7:30 p.m. with the showcase starting at 8 p.m. and continuing until 11 p.m. There will be instruments to get some jams going!
