Save-On-Foods stores will be providing plastic bags at all their stores in western Canada as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Starting March 20th, all 178 grocery store locations across western Canada will temporarily suspend bottle returns and the use of reusable shopping bags in store.
To make up for not accepting reusable bags, the stores will be offering plastic bags for free to all customers until further notice.

“Both our team members and customers have expressed concern about bottle returns and in using reusable bags at this time and we want to do everything we can to put them at ease,” said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones.
“The health and safety of our team members and customers is our number one priority and we’ll continue to do what’s best for them as this unprecedented situation evolves.”
Another measure recently announced by the grocery store chain is that while all stores will open to everyone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the hour between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. is being dedicated to senior shoppers, those with disabilities, or otherwise vulnerable populations.
The company is also urging customers to shop normally and leave their delivery service available for people who cannot get to the store.
