A local pedicab company is the latest business to step up and offer special services to support their community in dealing with the global coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement to Victoria Buzz, president of Victoria Pedicab Company Andrew Capeau stated that the company is now offering delivery services to Victorians who are not able to leave their homes due to quarantine measures.

Staff at the company have offered to fill orders for groceries, pharmaceuticals and other essential goods and then use the electric assisted pedicabs to deliver them to people’s homes.

“A suggested donation of $10 to $20 is appreciated, however, if you cannot provide a donation simply pay it forward another time,” reads a statement from the company.

The delivery service will be operating within the City of Victoria, Esquimalt and those in Saanich living in the Tillicum/Gorge Road area.

While the company is not affiliated with any grocery stores, they will be picking up most grocery orders from the Thrifty Foods located in James Bay.

Capeau assures the public that staff will be following all the health protocols required by the provincial health officer, like maintaining physical distance, taking remote payments, leaving orders at the door if people are self-isolating, and making sure delivery personnel are symptom free.

Those who require the service are asked to provide their address, contact information and list of items needed including quantities, sizes and brand preferences.

Once the orders are picked up, delivery staff will contact the customer regarding the total cost of the order and to expect delivery soon.

Payment for orders plus donations can be transferred to acapeau@yahoo.com, credit cards accepted over the phone, or cash placed into an envelope if the other two options are not available.

According to Capeau, the company hopes to complete all deliveries the same day they are requested for orders made by noon.

All orders can be sent to acapeau@yahoo.com or by leaving a message at 778-746-1248 extension 100 for those who do not have access to a computer.
