Here’s how indoor dining will return to BC according to the latest ‘restart plan’

Share

Today, BC announced their 4 Step Restart Plan, which outlines the future of easing restrictions as we move toward a normal life.

For many Vancouver Island residents, a specific area of interest is returning to businesses (such as movie theaters and nightclubs) as well as indoor dining in restaurants.

As of today, indoor dining will be permitted again and has been extended to up to 6 people per table – this includes outdoor dining. Those at your table do not have to be within your household bubble.

The province is still recommending you stick within a safe group of 10.

Here’s how we will return to business as normal and indoor dining according to BC’s Restart Plan:

Step 1: (May 25th)

  • Indoor and outdoor dining will be extended to up to 6 people. Those at your table do not have to be within your household bubble.
  • Liquor service will be available in restaurants until 10 p.m.
  • Existing WorkSafeBC Safety Plans remain in place.

What this might mean for you: Going out for dinner with friends

Step 2: (Earliest Date- June 15th)

  • Liquor service will be extended until midnight.
  • Banquet halls and movie theaters will reopen with limited capacity, with safety plans remaining in place.
  • Consultations with sector associations on next steps on easing of restrictions.

What this might mean for you: See a movie on the big screen!

Step 3: (Earliest date- July 1st)

  • No group limit for indoor & outdoor dining
  • Liquor service restrictions lifted
  • Bingo halls, casinos and nightclubs reopen with limited capacity, operate based on new safety plans

What this might mean for you: Go any direction down the aisles at the grocery store. Goodbye arrows!

Step 4: (Earliest date- Sept 7th)

  • Continue to operate based on new Safety Plans

What this might mean for you: Going dancing with your friends

Although the stages have been announced, it is important to remain patient and follow the guidelines and restrictions in place. Follow mask guidance, stay home and get tested when you’re sick, and consider others in your decisions.

Take a look at the full breakdown of all that’s included in BC’s four-phase restart plan announced today.
