A caesar cocktail made right here on Vancouver Island has been named one of the best caesars in Canada.
According to Mott’s Canada, the Cow Café West Coast Grill in Cowichan Bay is the only BC restaurant nominated after after receiving hundreds of online votes.
Cow Café’s ‘Coast-to-Coast Caesar’ has been named by Mott’s Clamato as one of Canada’s top 10 Best Caesars in Town and has the chance to be named number one in a contest happening now.
In May, Mott’s began its search for Canada’s best by asking Canadians to nominate their favourite caesar.
Thirty restaurants were invited to submit video entries explaining the inspiration behind their caesar, what makes it special, and what the restaurant would do with a $25,000 grand prize should they be crowned Canada’s Best Caesar in Town.
Many entrants shared the inspiration behind their drink while Cow Café delivered a “love letter to Canada,” suggesting that the country’s coastal bounty was what inspired the recipe.
“Being that the Caesar is Canada’s national drink, what better way to highlight Canada than have fresh products literally from one coast to the next?” asks owner and chef Matt Heyne.
Heyne also gave a heartfelt acknowledgment to his staff that stuck it out with him
during the worst days of the pandemic, and committed themselves to whatever jobs
needed doing while adjusting to restrictions and guidelines that devastated the industry.
Voting will be open between July 8th and August 4th and one vote per day is allowed per IP address, according to the contest details.
The winning restaurant, which will will be announced on August 28th, will receive $25,000 from Mott’s Clamato.
