International flights will return to Victoria at the end of the month

International flights will be returning to Victoria International airport (YYJ) at the end of this month.

In April 2020, international flights were banned from YYJ, and by May, transborder flights – between Canada and the US – had been stopped as people were asked to stop all non-essential travel.

The federal government said Tuesday morning that beginning November 30th, flights from across the border will once again land at eight Canadian airports, including YYJ.

Other airports include:

  • St. John’s International
  • John C. Munro Hamilton International
  • Region of Waterloo International
  • Regina International
  • Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International
  • Kelowna International
  • Abbotsford International

News comes one month after Canada announced it will begin accepting vaccinated international travellers and a week after the federal government introduced its federal proof of vaccination program.

In order to travel, one must have two doses of any federally approved COVID-19 vaccines, with the second dose administered at least 14 days before travel.

Beginning November 8th, Canadians fully-immunized will be permitted to travel to the US. Air travellers will still be required to produce a negative COVID-19 test to travel.
