The BC Ministry of Health reported 324 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 17th.
There have been 213,682 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 60
- Fraser Health: 108
- Island Health: 33
- Interior Health: 50
- Northern Health: 73
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 3,380 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
207,779 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 379 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 109 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
7 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,281.
Outbreaks
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks.
The outbreak at Bulkley Valley District Hospital (Northern Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 22 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.
There are currently 2 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region: Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 479 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
● South Vancouver Island Active cases: 85│Total Cases: 4,693
● Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 198│ Total Cases: 5,583
● North Vancouver Island Active cases: 85 │Total Cases: 1,556
54 people remain in hospital with 12 in ICU.
There was 1 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today. There have been 117 deaths in the region since the pandemic began.
Vaccinations
As of Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, 90.7% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.9% have received their second dose.
In addition, 91.2% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 87.4% have received their second dose.
To date, 8,471,017 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,027,146 of which are second doses.
