BC health officials report 1,052 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, November 22nd

The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,052 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on  Monday, November 22nd.

There have been 215,688 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Friday-Saturday: 390
  • Saturday-Sunday: 332
  • Sunday-Monday: 330

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 123
  • Fraser Health: 345
  • Island Health: 159
  • Interior Health: 227
  • Northern Health: 196
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 3,137 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

210,070 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 337 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 115 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

10 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,303.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks.

The outbreaks at Cascade Gardens, The Cedars, Harrison Pointe, Revera Parkwood Manor, Burnaby Hospital (Fraser Health), Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health), Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre (Interior Health), Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Island Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 12 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There is currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 159 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 374 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 93 │Total Cases: 4756
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 213 │ Total Cases: 5767
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 68 │Total Cases: 1619

48 people remain in hospital with 13 in ICU. 

There were 2 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 119 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, 90.9% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87.3% have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.3% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 87.9% have received their second dose.

To date, 8,551,866 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,047,568 of which are second doses.
