The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is celebrating success, raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars for much-need medical equipment.
Its Miracle on the Mountain Gala, held last Saturday, May 28th at Westin Bear Mountain Resort to a sold-out crowd, raised more than $430,000.
According to organizers, funds will help Victoria General Hospital purchase a $318,000 O-Arm Imaging System—designed for use in spine, orthopedic trauma or neurological surgeries.
“We stand proudly with the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, knowing that funds raised in our communities will stay in our communities for the benefit of our neighbours and loved ones for years to come,” said Langford Mayor Stewart Young.
“I am proud of how the West Shore showed up,” exclaimed Young.
Additional monies raised will go toward other priority needs identified through the foundation’s ‘Emerge Stronger’ campaign, which launched last October and has raised over $4 million of its $10-million goal.
The campaign looks to keep Royal Jubilee, Victoria General, and Gorge Road hospitals “on the leading edge,” ensuring all Islanders “emerge stronger from the lasting effects of the pandemic.”
Saturday’s gala also celebrated these hospitals by shining a light on staff efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, “which continues to put immense stress on our local hospitals,” the foundation added.
