30-year-old Port Alberni man charged in fatal October stabbing

A local, Port Albernian has been charged in a stabbing incident that occurred last month.

In the afternoon of October 20th, in the 5100-block of Argyle Street, police responded to a report of a man being stabbed in an apartment building.

Police say they determined an altercation had taken place between two men who knew each other, which resulted in one of the men being stabbed.

The stabbing victim succumbed to his injuries while en route to hospital.

Friends of the victim identified him on social media as Johnny Sorensen, who was also known by the nickname “Tree.”

After 23 days of investigating, on Monday, November 13th, Port Alberni RCMP arrested 30-year-old Dylan Hamilton-George in connection with the incident. 

Police say his official charge will be possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, despite his alleged stabbing of the man who died this October. 

Hamilton-George will be held in police custody until his next court appearance on Wednesday, November 15th.
